Amber Huelskamp, Zane Shreve and Kyle Scott led the East Jay Middle School cross country teams to a sweep Wednesday.
The Chief girls defeated Winchester Driver at Portland's Hudson Family Park 24-34. The sixth and seventh grade boys won 25-30, and the eighth grade boys posted a score of 18 while Driver did not have enough runners for a team score.
Huelskamp cruised to victory in the girls race as the only runner to break the 14-minute mark. She finished in 13-minutes, 51 seconds, which put her 36 seconds ahead of runner-up teammate Abigail Johnson.
Julie Valentine placed sixth in 15:29, with Alex Loy (15:31) in seventh and Patricia Hein (15:46) in eighth.
Shreve and Jalen Ryder finished first and second in the sixth and seventh grade boys race in times of 13:18 and 13:44 respectively. Austin Muhlenkamp was fourth at 13:53, followed by Chaz Carroll (eighth - 14:15) and Jacob Schlosser (10th - 14:45).
Scott won the eighth grade boys race, in which Driver had just one runner, in 12:23 with Dylan Cope second at 12:45. Austin Butcher (14:59), Bryan Schwieterman (15:02) and Remington Arnold (15:53) were fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
