East Jay Middle School's seventh and eighth grade boys basketball teams each won titles Saturday at the East Jay/Boomer Basketball Tournament.

The seventh grade Chiefs overcame their first loss of the season Thursday to Muncie Wilson, defeating Monroe Central 56-17 and Richmond Dennis 36-34. The eighth grade squad topped the same pair of teams by scores of 44-30 and 41-28 respectively.

East Jay's sixth grade girls were the tournament runners up. They defeated Hartford City 30-23 before suffering their first loss of the season 32-27 to Muncie Northside in the championship.

Cade Price and Kegan Comer paced the EJMS seventh graders (16-1), each scoring in double figures in both games. Price had 21 in the championship and 14 in the opening round, and Comer scored 13 and 11 points respectively. Brock McFarland added 11 points against Monroe Central.

Andy Haffner and Matt Landfair each scored nine points in the eighth grade championship game. Dillon Ainsworth added eight for the Chiefs (13-4). Haffner and Ainsworth each scored 14 points in the opening round.

Katlin Petro scored 11 points in each game for the sixth grade girls (7-1). She had 11 rebounds in the semifinal and nine in the championship.

Alex Loy and Abby Dunlavy each had four points against Northside, and Kaitlin Hemmelgarn added three assists. Against Hartford City, Tasya Smith scored eight points, and Katie Aker had two assists.
