EJMS places fourth

EJMS/SAMS cross country

OSSIAN — Megan Wellman turned in the top finish as the East Jay and South Adams middle school cross country teams competed in the Norwell Invitational Thursday.
Wellman led the EJMS girls team to a fourth-place finish in the eight-team girls competition with 113 points.
Maple Creek won with 24 points, and South Adams was fifth with 134.
East Jay’s boys finished sixth out of nine teams with 177 points, edging seventh-place South Adams by three. Maple Creek won with 16.
Wellman was the only Chief girl to break the 13-minute mark, finishing fourth in 12 minutes, 38 seconds.
Emi Minnich took ninth in 13:01.

Kellie Fortkamp was 31st in 15:04 followed by Sophie Bader (35th - 15:12) and Abby Saxman (37th - 15:33).
Jalen Ryder paced the boys team with his ninth-place finish in 11:38. Tyler Wendel crossed the finish line in 13:33 for 37th place ahead of Bryan Schwieterman (40th - 13:40), Luke Weaver (43rd - 13:51) and Adam Jutte (48th - 14:15).
Ryan Ford led South Adams in the boys race in 12th place with a time of 11:58. Trailing him were Cole Litwiller (29th - 13:06), Kody Coates (30th - 13:07, Brian Goodwin (54th - 14:59) and Paul Neuenschwander (55th - 15:14).
Katelin Hawbaker and Kara Seffernick placed 18th and 19th for the SAMS girls team in 13:56 and 13:58 respectively.
Hannah Coates was 21st in 13:59 followed by Aleesha Goodwin (33rd - 15:08) and Lily Shane (45th - 16:20).
In the boys reserve race, Michael Denney turned in a 12th-place finish in 13:25.[[In-content Ad]]
