Evers leads Tribe

FORT RECOVERY — Wade Gelhaus and Elijah Kahlig had powered the Indians’ offense all season. In their 11th game, a new scorer stepped to the forefront.
Mason Evers tallied a career-high 20 points to lead the Fort Recovery High School boys basketball team to a 66-26 victory Tuesday over the Franklin-Monroe Jets.
Evers led a 54-percent shooting effort for the Indians (9-2) as he finished 9-of-14 from the field. He also hit both of his free-throw attempts and grabbed a game-high seven rebounds.
Gelhaus and Kahlig followed their senior teammate with 11 points apiece.
Devin Fourman finished with nine points to lead Franklin-Monroe, which committed 22 turnovers and shot just 16 percent in the opening half. Martin Maksvytis added eight points.
In the junior varsity game, Darien Sheffer totaled 13 points and six rebounds to lead Fort Recovery to a 47-36 victory.
FRMS girls win
FORT RECOVERY — Grace Thien led the way for the Fort Recovery Middle School seventh grade girls basketball team as it continued its undefeated season with a 42-18 triumph over Parkway. The eighth grade girls won 25-17.
Thien tallied 13 points for the Indian seventh graders, who improved to 9-0. Carley Stone added eight points.
Whitney Will finished with 16 points as the FRMS eighth grade team improved to 6-3. Grace Gehle, Devin Post, Audra Metzger, Jocie Kaiser, Sydney Alig and Logan Ranly added two points apiece.
Boys fall to UC
UNION CITY — Fort Recovery’s eighth grade boys basketball team picked up its sixth victory Tuesday, 41-30 over Union City. The seventh grade team also won, 23-19.
Micaiah Cox set the pace for the Indian eighth graders (6-2) with 18 points. Caleb Martin followed with eight points.
Ryan Braun tallied five points as the FRMS seventh grade squad improved to 5-3. Evan Post chipped in four points.
