Fisher Meats scored a run in the top of the seventh inning and Justice Day struck out the side in a 5-4 victory over Crossroads Federal Financial Credit Union in Portland Junior League’s Minor softball division.
Day led the way for Fisher with three hits. Reiley Brewster and Emma Swingly both chipped in two hits.
Madison Eley, Kearston Myers and Clarissa Reidt all added one hit each.
Eels cruise
UNION CITY — Six swimmers won three events apiece and seven more were dual event winners as the Fort Recovery Eels summer swim team defeated the Union City Tigersharks on Thursday, 778-378.
The Eels improved to 2-0 on the young season.
Tiegan Fortkamp and Jayden Ramirez cleaned up in the 8-and-younger division as triple event winners. Ava Bubp (11-12-year-old division), Carley Stone (13-14), Nolan Thobe (13-14) and Cori Stone (15-and-older) also won three races each.
Dual winners were Ellie Will, Kyra Clark, Logan Ramirez, Gavin Tobe, Jackson Ontrop, Alexis Bubp and Dillon Ramirez.
Picking up single victories for the Eels were Luke Lochtefeld, Grace Klingshirn, Audra Bubp, Makena Ellenberger, Issac Merrill, Stephen Jutte, Valerie Muhlenkamp, Shelby Stammen, Mitchell Pugh, Sophie Timmerman, Payton Thobe, Rachel Kaup and Mackinley Timmerman.
Wendel leads in win
Kristen Wendel had two hits, including one triple, and scored three times in Frontline Construction’s 14-6 win over First Bank of Berne in Portland Junior League Minor softball action.
Lexie Ferguson had a single and a double and scored two runs to support Wendel, who also scored three runs.
Aubrie Schwieterman smacked two hits and scored twice, and Lenzi Earles added a double.
For First Bank of Berne, Grace Mailten chipped in a pair of hits and scored twice. Emily Byrum and Maebry Ninde each added a hit and a run.[[In-content Ad]]
