Fort blanks Cavs

The seventh grade football team shut out Coldwater while the eight graders fell in a close game Thursday.
The seventh grade squad downed the Cavaliers 20-0, with Will Homan leading the Fort Recovery offensive strike. Homan scored a 10-yard TD run in the first quarter capped by an Andrew Stocker two-point conversion, then broke off a 70-yard run for a score in the second.
Homan also threw for one TD, finding Aaron Homan from 5 yards out in the fourth.
The eight grade team gave up one early and couldn’t muster the offense to claw back in an 8-6 loss.
Coldwater put up its points in the first quarter, with Fort Recovery answering with a 10-yard pass from Caleb Martin to Jason Roessner in the third. The Indians couldn’t convert the two-point try and failed to break the goal in the fourth quarter.

Volleyball falls
Fort Recovery took its first conference loss at the hands of St. Henry, 25-9, 25-7, 25-12.
The Indians (1-2, 0-1 Midwest Athletic Conference) got eight hits from Kelsey Fiely, five assists and three service points from Cassidy Rammel, six digs from Morgan Dues and four points from Sierra Pugh in the loss.
The junior varsity team also dropped its match, 25-13, 25-7. Rachel Pugh had two points, three hits and three digs and Kirsten Jutte notched four hits and one point, kill and dig as the Indians dropped to 0-3.

Golf loses
All of Delphos’ top four golfers shot better than Fort Recovery’s best, dropping the Indians to 4-9 at Delphos Country Club Thursday by a score of 152-186.
Elijah Kahlig and Kent Retz both shot 45 to lead the Indians. Retz was stronger on the back half of the round, parring holes six, seven and bouncing back to even on nine after double bogeying eight. Kahlig collected two pars on holes three and nine.
Chase Bruns shot 47 with three parred holes and Derek Backs shot par on hole four to finish with 49.
Delphos’ Nick Kayser took medalist honors with 35 as the Blue Jays rounded out their score with three 39s.[[In-content Ad]]
