Fort boys fall from DIV poll

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A pair of weekend losses were enough to knock the Indians from the state’s top 10.
The Fort Recovery High School boys basketball team, which was sixth last week, fell from the state rankings in the new Ohio Associated Press Division IV poll released today.
It finished 12th in the poll voting.
The Indians (9-3) opened with eight straight victories this season, but have lost three of their last four including 59-51 Friday at Minster and 44-39 Saturday at home against Franklin Monroe. They came in one spot behind undefeated Franklin Monroe and one ahead of Minster in this week’s poll.
Bishop Rosecrans (13-0) of Zanesville took over the No. 1 spot in the Division IV poll from defending champion Jefferson Township (10-0).

Swimmers win one
CELINA, Ohio — The Fort Recovery boys swim team picked up one win Saturday as it competed in a quadruple dual at Celina YMCA.
The Indians defeated Parkway 42-7, but lost to Minster, New Bremen and Memorial. The girls team went 0-4.
Marshall Hull led FRHS with his victory in the 500-yard freestyle. He finished in 6 minutes, 18 seconds, and was also the runner-up in the 200 freestyle in 2:14.53.
Andy Gray placed second as he finished with a time of 2:37.55 in the 200 individual medley.

Kelly Hull was ninth for the girls team in the 50 and 200 freestyle events.

Freshman boys fall
NEW KNOXVILLE, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s freshman boys basketball team fell 34-32 to the New Knoxville Rangers in overtime Monday.
Kent Retz racked up 21 points and 12 rebounds for the Indians, who slipped to 4-6.
Kyle Timmerman scored seven points.

Indians blast UC
FORT RECOVERY — Kara Jutte and Caley Schoenherr each scored in double digits Monday to lead the Fort Recovery eighth grade girls basketball team to a 45-14 win over the Union City Indians. The seventh grade team also rolled, 37-9.
Jutte and Schoenherr totaled 10 points apiece as the FRMS eighth graders improved to 7-5. Mikayla Grover added five points.
Trisha Thien had seven points for the seventh grade squad (5-7), which shut out Union City in the first quarter. Caitlyn Huelskamp scored six points.[[In-content Ad]]
