Local roundup

FORT RECOVERY — It only scored in one inning, but that was enough for the Fort Recovery softball team to even its record in the Midwest Athletic Conference.

The Indians scored four times in the bottom of the sixth inning and defeated the Minster Wildcats 4-3 Monday.

Fort Recovery (5-8, 1-1 MAC) trailed 2-0 before coming up big in the sixth. Kelsie Will had a couple of RBIs in the inning as she also finished with a single, a run and two stolen bases.

JC softball falls

Moments after the Patriots rallied to tie the game, they fell behind again.

Jay County’s softball team scored three times to pull even in the bottom of the fifth, but gave up two runs in the top of the sixth in a 5-3 loss to the Anderson Highland Scots Monday.

Shae Keller took the defeat, although three of the five runs against her were unearned. She allowed five walks and five hits while striking out three.

She paced the Patriot offense as well, going 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI.

Chelsea DeBoy added a two-run double, and Danielle Jackson doubled and scored a run. Amber Champ and Saffron Redwine also had hits as Jay County slipped to 2-1 in the Olympic Athletic Conference and 3-5 overall.

Delta downs Patriot golf

The Jay County boys golf team was more consistent than in its first dual meet, but still came up on the short end 164-185 against the Delta Eagles Monday.

C.J. Comer came up with the best round for the Patriots on the front nine at Portland Golf Club with a 45, and Delta’s Chase Wright was the match medalist at 37.

Comer had two of Jay County’s five pars — on the 385-yard par-3 third hole and the 471-yard, par-5 sixth. Josh Hall and Adam Gray each were even on one of the course’s par-3s as they each finished at 46.

Gray Suman also had a par on the sixth hole on the way to a 48, and James Brosher shot 50.
