Fort freshman teams top Versailles

VERSAILLES, Ohio - The new year got off to a good start for the Fort Recovery High School freshmen.

The Indian girls basketball team kept its perfect record in tact Monday, beating the Versailles Tigers 25-17. The boys squad got its first win, 31-30 over Versailles.

Kelsey Fiely scored 10 points to lead the FRHS girls, who are now 4-0. Janelle Schwieterman added nine points.

Chad Schoerer set the pace for the Tribe boys (1-2) with 14 points. Jacob Schoen followed with eight points.

Chiefs top WJMS

DUNKIRK - East Jay Middle School's girls basketball teams each turned in big victories over host West Jay.

The Chiefs won the eighth grade girls game 40-6, and took the seventh grade game 37-6.

Katlin Petro and Amber Huelskamp each had eight points for the East Jay eighth graders, who led 24-2 at halftime.

Abbi Dunlavy and Abigail Johnson added seven points apiece.

Cierra Barcus scored four points for West Jay, and Chelsea Tighe had two.

Malarie Houck scored 10 points in the seventh grade game as East Jay built an 18-0 lead in the opening quarter. Chloe Steigerwalt followed with seven points.

Kay Morgan and Dakota Chambers totaled two points apiece for the Eagles.[[In-content Ad]]
