Fort freshmen defeat Van Wert (09/20/06)

VAN WERT, Ohio - Fort Recovery's freshman volleyball team rolled to 8-2 Tuesday with a 25-16, 25-16 victory over the Van Wert Cougars.
Emily May had a team-best two blocks, and was second on the team in points (six), digs (three) and kills (two). Chelsey Luethold racked up six kills and three digs.
Josie Guggenbiller and Carly Staugler each finished with eight assists. Guggenbiller added seven points, Staugler totaled six points and Sarah Knapke had seven digs.
EJ 7th tops Driver
The East Jay Middle School seventh grade team fought off Winchester Driver for a 25-19, 11-25, 15-9 victory Tuesday. The Chief eighth graders lost a tight third game in a 22-25, 25-23, 15-14 defeat.
Danielle Wellman scored seven points to lead the East Jay seventh graders. Kassie Hemmelgarn added five points, and Mariah Hornaday had four kills and a pair of blocks.
Abby Denney racked up 10 aces as she scored 15 points for the Chief eighth grade team. Laura Castillo scored five points, including three aces.
Fort splits with NK
FORT RECOVERY - Danielle Bihn scored 15 points for the Fort Recovery seventh grade team in a 25-17, 25-20 win over the New Knoxville Rangers Tuesday. The Tribe eighth grade squad lost 25-21, 25-21.
Bihn picked up four of her points on aces, and Kylie Kahlig added nine points, three aces and a dig. Kayla Kahlig had two kills as Fort Recovery improved to 3-5.
Olivia Thien paced the eighth grade Indians (2-6) with six kills, two blocks and two points. Haley Wilson had 12 points, including eight aces, and Holly Brunswick scored four points.
Kendra Brunswick added four assists, and Shelby Brunswick had three kills.
Wes-Del defeats Eagles
DUNKIRK - The Wes-Del Warriors scored a couple of wins over West Jay Middle School, winning the eighth grade match 25-21, 17-25, 15-12 and the seventh grade match 25-6, 25-9.
Kendra Younger finished with nine points, including four aces, for West Jay. Breanna Dahlstorm had all of her five points and four aces in the game-one win, and Ashley Franklin finished with three points.
Megan Sawyer led the Eagle seventh graders with four points, and Shannon Springer had three points.[[In-content Ad]]
