Fort Recovery’s freshman girls basketball team erased an early deficit to improve to 4-1 with a 35-32 victory over St. Marys Monday.
The Indians trailed 10-6 after one quarter before claiming the lead for good. They outscored St. Marys 20-8 over the next two periods and held on for the win.
Abby Niekamp fell just shy of a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds. Lauren Wenning also had 10 points while adding seven rebounds.
Hoops tournaments
The Western Wayne Basketball Club in Cambridge City will host several boys basketball tournaments in February.
Tournaments for third and fourth grade teams will be Feb. 7 and 8 and for seventh and eighth grade teams Feb. 21 and 22. The entry fee is $175, and each team is guaranteed three games.
