Fort gets top seed

FORT RECOVERY — The Fort Recovery High School baseball team locked up the top seed and a bye into the Division IV sectional championship game.
The Indians (14-2, 2-1 Midwest Athletic Conference) will host the sectional championship at 5 p.m. May 14 against the winner of the May 10 game between No. 11 seed Delphos St. John’s and eighth-seeded Lincolnview in Delphos, Ohio.
The sectional champion will advance to the district semifinal at 4:30 p.m. May 21 at Coldwater.
No. 3 seed Minster also earned a bye and will host a sectional championship game. It will play the winner of seventh-seeded Spencerville and No. 12 seed Lima Temple Christian and feed into the Coldwater district against the winner of the Fort Recovery sectional.
In the bottom half of the bracket, second-seeded Crestview will take on the winner of No. 9 seed and No. 10 seed Waynesfield-Goshen, and fourth-seeded Marion Local will play the winner of No. 5 seed Lima Perry and No. 6 seed New Knoxville.

Indians outlast Green Wave
GREENVILLE — Jacob Muhlenkamp hit a home run and drove in seven runs to power the Fort Recovery baseball team to a 16-9 win Saturday over the Greenville Green Wave.
The Indians (14-2, 2-1 Midwest Athletic Conference) jumped out to an early 5-2 lead after the first inning, but the Green Wave scored a pair in the third to get within one. The Indians got one back in the top of the fourth and broke the game open with six runs in the fifth and four in the sixth.
Greenville scored two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth. After holding the Indians scoreless in the top of the seventh, the Green Wave scored two in the bottom of the seventh but the nine-run deficit was too much to overcome.
Elijah Kahlig and Kyle Schroer each had two hits and an RBI, and Blake Boughman walked three times and had two RBIs.
Cole Wendel, Jackson Hobbs and Derek Backs all had a hit and and RBI.
Kahlig earned the win for the Tribe, giving up four runs — two earned — on seven hits, striking out three and walking one.

Tribe girls second
ARCANUM — Sierra Pugh won two events and Alexis Hobbs picked up a pair of third-place finishes as the Fort Recovery girls track team was third Saturday at Franklin Monroe.
Celina won the five-team meet with 103 points, and Fort Recovery scored 81 points for second. Arcanum placed third with 68.5.
The Tribe boys scored 19 points for fifth.
Pugh placed first in both the 100- and 200-meter dash, and teamed up with Bre Jutte, Emily May and Jocelyn Kaiser to win the 4x100 relay. Hobbs was third in the high jump and 100 hurdles, and May placed second in the 100 dash.
Grace Gehle was second in the 3,200 run and third in the 1,600 run.
Paige Hemmert placed second in the 400 dash, and Angela Heitkamp (800 run) and Elle Sutter (3,200 run) both finished third.
Rachel Kaup and Heitkamp joined Gehle and Sutter to take second in the 4x800 relay, and teamed up with Hemmert and Hobbs for third in the 4x400 relay.
David Trobridge placed third in the 100 and 200 dash to lead the boys.
