COLUMBUS, Ohio - The climb up the state poll continued for the Indians this week.
Fort Recovery took another step up in Ohio's Associated Press boys basketball poll Monday and is now ranked seventh in Division IV. The Tribe made its first appearance in the poll and No. 9, and was ranked eighth last week.
The Indians (12-1) earned 106 poll points to finish five ahead of No. 8 McComb (13-1) and five behind sixth-ranked Dayton Jefferson (11-3). Newark Catholic, which is one of three Division IV teams at 14-0, continues to hold the top spot with 266 points.
The only loss of the season for the FRHS boys came in tournament action by a single point to Division III No. 7 Coldwater. The Indians avenged that loss in Midwest Athletic Conference play, and they share the league lead at 5-0 with St. John's.
Freshman girls roll
FORT RECOVERY - Four players scored in double figures Monday as the Fort Recovery freshman girls basketball team destroyed St. Marys 66-19.
Melissa Lochtefeld led the scoring barrage with 16 points for the Indians, (6-3) who were up 18-4 after the first quarter and by 25 at halftime. Amy Link added 14 points, Kelsey Fiely scored 11 and Abby May had 10.
FR boys stumble
ST. HENRY, Ohio - The Fort Recovery freshman boys basketball team lost 56-25 Monday to the St. Henry Redskins.
Wyatt Blockberger and Jacob Schoen each scored eight points as the Tribe fell to 1-5. Mason Evers added five points.[[In-content Ad]]
