Fort Recovery drops third straight

VERSAILLES, Ohio — The Fort Recovery High School girls basketball team averaged more than 54 points per game entering Thursday’s contest against Versailles.
The Division III No. 9 Tigers wouldn’t let the Indians reach 40.
Fort Recovery turned the ball over 28 times in a 57-39 loss to the Tigers, its third straight and fourth in Midwest Athletic Conference play.
Versailles outscored the Indians 17-5 in the opening quarter and poured on 19 points in the second as the Tigers shot 53 percent from the field in the first half.
The Indians (6-6, 0-4 MAC) left the locker room at halftime with a 21-point deficit, and would not get closer than 18 points the rest of the game.
Kara Jutte led the Indians with nine points, and Tori Lennartz and Jocelyn Kaiser each added seven. Kendra Siefring, Sierra Pugh and Julie Wendel had four points apiece.
The Tigers’ Katie Heckman led all scorers with 17 points.

Its counterparts scored 11 points or more in each frame.
Versailles made more than half its field-goal attempts and Fort Recovery shot just 23 percent in falling 53-26 to the Tigers.
Whitney Will and Kirsten Jutte led the Tribe with six points each. Tori Vaughn and Jutte grabbed four rebounds apiece, and Grace Gehle had two assists.
Lauren Monnin of Versailles scored a game-high 17 points.

FORT RECOVERY — Payton Jutte nearly beat Versailles by himself.
The Tribe seventh grader scored 17 points as Fort Recovery Middle School defeated the Tigers 25-19 Thursday.
The eighth grade Indians fell to the Tigers 46-21.
Cody Shinaberry scored four points in support of Jutte to help the seventh grade Indians to victory.
Ryan Braun scored six points for the Tribe eighth graders, and Cade Wendel chipped in five[[In-content Ad]]
