FORT RECOVERY — Memorial took away the Indians’ chance at double-digit wins.
Fort Recovery High School’s baseball team matched the Roughriders from St. Marys with 10 hits Thursday, but suffered a 9-1 defeat.
Elijah Kahlig gave up six runs in two innings for the Tribe (8-17), which closes its season at home today against Marion Local. Alex Thien allowed three runs in five innings.
Kent Retz finished with a single and an RBI, and Thien singled and scored the lone FRHS run. Ryan Gaerke went 2-for-3, Chad Schroer and Collin O’Dell each finished 2-for-4 and Blake Boughman and Jacob Muhlenkamp chipped in one hit apiece.
Nick Vogel smacked a home run to lead Memorial.

Softball takes loss
FORT RECOVERY — The Indians slipped to 4-20 Thursday with an 11-1 loss to the Arcanum Trojans.
Fort Recovery fell behind 3-0 before picking up its only run in the fifth inning. The Trojans scored eight times in the seventh inning for the final margin.
Beca Tobe took the loss, but only one of Arcanum’s runs was earned. She allowed six hits and four walks while striking out two batters.
Taylor Guggenbiller went 2-for-3 with a triple for the Tribe, and Haley Knapke singled and scored the lone run. Tobe had a double, and Sierra Loya and Melissa Lochtefeld added one hit apiece.

MS girls track 6th
VERSAILLES, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s middle school girls track team scored 33 points Thursday to finish sixth out of 10 teams at the Midwest Athletic Conference Championships. The boys were last with seven points.
Minster took the girls title with 181 and the boys with 149.
Caitlyn Huelskamp was the top athlete for the Indians as she placed fourth in both of her events. She had a time of 2 minutes, 38.23 seconds, in the 800-meter run, and finished the 1,600 run in 5:46.97.
Darien Sheffer paced the boys team as he tied for sixth in the high jump at 5 feet even.
The Tribe girls also placed fourth in the 4x400 relay.[[In-content Ad]]
