Fort Recovery finishes 2nd

VERSAILLES, Ohio — Two Indians finished in the top 10 Saturday as the Fort Recovery girls cross country team took second place in the Tour De Sewer. They scored 74 points and trailed only the host Versailles Tigers (37), who were led by 2009 state champion Tammy Berger.
The Tribe boys were seventh out of 13 teams.
Abby May set the pace for the FRHS girls in seventh place with a time of 21 minutes, 24 seconds, and Elle Sutter was just five second behind her in eight. Samantha Tobe finished 14th in 22:09 ahead of Jessica Vogel (19th - 22:33) and Nicole Heitkamp (28th - 23:11).
Ryan Heitkamp’s 11th-place finish in 18:17 powered the boys team. Derek Sutter was 36th in 19:22 followed by Nathan Fullenkamp (37th - 19:25), Calvin Kaiser (47th - 19:53) and Caleb Heitkamp (50th - 20:00).
Caitlyn Huelskamp finished 11th in 14:15 for the Tribe’s middle school girls team, which was third out of six teams. The boys were eighth out of nine with A.J. Jutte placing 33rd in 13:49.

Patriot girls second
MUNCIE — Jay County’s girls finished second Saturday behind New Palestine (62) at the Delta Invitational on the Water Bowl course where the Patriots will return for sectional action.
JCHS and Mount Vernon each scored 89 points, and the tie was broken by the No. 6 runner — Liz Lennartz of the Patriots was 28th while Mount Vernon’s Jenny Catron finished 43rd.

Leah Wellman was the only Jay County runner to make the top 10 in the 12-team event, placing eight overall in 20 minutes, 44 seconds. Katie Simmons was 12th in 21:12, and Eme Miller crossed the finish line in 21:25 for 16th.
Abigail Johnson and Logan Laux finished just in front of Lennartz, posting times of 22:08.31 and 22:08.91 for 26th and 27th respectively.
Chaz Carroll was 67th in 22:00 for the JCHS boys team, and Zach Johnson was 70th in 22:37.

SA boys fourth
FORT WAYNE — The South Adams boys cross country placed fourth Saturday in the New Haven Classic at IPFW. The girls finished in seventh place.
Hannah Moore had the top overall finish for the Starfires in ninth place in the girls race in 20 minutes flat. Eric Isch led the boys team in 16:29 for 12th place.
Trailing Isch for SAHS were Joel Hawbaker (24th - 17:11), Evan Liechty (28th - 17:23), Simon Sprunger (42nd - 17:32) and Brody Shane (43rd - 17:34).
Jenna Smith was 27th for the girls team in 20:46 followed by Sawyer Shane (48th - 21:29), Allison Amstutz (74th - 22:04) and Emily Miller (112th - 23:09).[[In-content Ad]]
