Fort Recovery freshman teams win

NEW BREMEN and MINSTER, Ohio — Neither the Cardinals nor the neighboring Wildcats could stop Fort Recovery.
The Fort Recovery High School freshman boys basketball team improved to 2-0 Monday with a 42-31 victory on the road over the New Bremen Cardinals. The Tribe’s freshman girls team defeated the host Minster Wildcats 45-41.
Brandon Schoen set the pace for the FRHS boys team as he scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds. J.J. Overton added 10 points, and Jackson Hobbs scored seven.
Kendra Siefring finished with 13 points for the Indian girls, who trailed by three before scoring 20 points in the fourth quarter to claim the victory. Kelsey Evers joined Siefring in double figures with 10 points, and Kirsten Jutte had seven.
JC freshmen win
YORKTOWN — Jay County’s freshman boys basketball team led all the way Monday as it defeated the Yorktown Tigers 35-24.
Kyler Carvel scored 13 points to pace the Patriots (6-2), who had a seven-point lead at halftime. Adam Dirksen followed with 13 points.
Karter Bibbs finished with 11 points for Yorktown.
Indians top Arcanum
FORT RECOVERY — The Fort Recovery Middle School eighth grade boys basketball team dominated the Arcanum Trojans 42-14 on Monday. The seventh grade squad also won, 20-12.
Micaiah Cox single-handedly outscored Arcanum as he led the Indian eighth graders (4-2) with 24 points. Caleb Martin totaled six points.
Cade Wendel finished with nine points for the FRHS seventh grade team, which evened its record at 3-3. Ethan Schoen scored six points.
