Fort Recovery girls stay undefeated (01/04/08)

FORT RECOVERY - Win number seven in a pair of thus-far perfect seasons was no problem for the Indians.

The Fort Recovery seventh grade girls basketball team shut out the New Knoxville Rangers Thursday in the first half of a 49-7 triumph. The eighth graders also won convincingly, 41-17.

Chelsea Pottkotter had 14 points and five rebounds for the seventh grade squad, which was up 23-0 at the half. Janelle Schwieterman, Kelsey Fiely and Melissa Lochtefeld each added six points.

In the eighth grade contest Kelly Nietfeld and Kylie Kahlig reached double figures with 12 and 10 points respectively. Karissa Will and Kara Faller added six points apiece.

Jets top SA seventh

BERNE - South Adams' seventh grade boys basketball team fell 39-17 Thursday to the Adams Central Flying Jets.

Shea Pyle paced the Starfires with five points. Evan Liechty and Blake Fox each scored four.

Tribe splits with NK

NEW KNOXVILLE - The Fort Recovery seventh grade boys basketball team held the New Knoxville Rangers without a field goal in two quarters on the way to a 43-10 victory Thursday. The eighth graders managed double digits in a quarter just once in a 45-26 defeat.

The Indian seventh graders (2-5) picked up their second win as they rolled to a 14-0 lead after the first period. The also outscored New Knoxville 10-1 in the fourth. Trent Kaiser led the victory with 13 points, Keith Fortkamp scored seven and Chad Schroer finished with five.

Fort Recovery's eighth grade team (1-6) trailed by just two after the first quarter, but couldn't keep up with the Rangers. Jason Pottkotter and Jacob Whitacre each scored eight points, and Derek Gaerke finished with four.[[In-content Ad]]
