Fort Recovery is fifth at invite (09/14/05)

FORT LORAMIE, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s girls held strong against some state-level competition Tuesday.

The Indians placed fifth at the 12-team Fort Loramie Invitational, which included three teams which finished in the top 10 at the Division III state meet last season. They scored 137 points to finish behind Versailles (32), Fort Loramie (74), Coldwater (78) and New Bremen (128).

Versailles was the 2004 state runner-up while Fort Loramie placed fifth and Coldwater was 10th.

Fort Recovery’s boys team (356) finished 13th in the 14-team field, topping only Fairlawn. Coldwater was first with 50 followed by Versailles with 79.

Mindy Vogel topped the charts for the Tribe girls as she placed 14th in 21-minutes, 48 seconds.

Tina Roessner was 15 seconds behind her in 19th.

Sandra Sudhoff placed 30th in 22:59, Sam Bihn was 47th in 24:00 and Lindsay Sudhoff finished 56th in 24:28.

Mitch Fullenkamp and Jim Roessner went one-two for the Fort Recovery boys, placing 40th and 49th respectively. Fullenkamp finished in 19:19, and Roessner crossed the line in 19:36.

Tyler Huelskamp was 91st in 23:34, Matt Heinrichs placed 92nd in 23:37 and Joel Bey was 95th in 28:01.

Junior high

Fort Recovery’s girls placed sixth out of nine teams at Fort Loramie. The boys did not post a team score.

Amber Heitkamp paced the Indian girls in 24th at 14:45. Abby Huelskamp was 10 spots back with a time of 15:13, and Claire Wendel was another 10 back in 44th in 15:53.

Alexis Sutter finished 47th in 15:58, and Kelly Wendel was 61st in 16:13.

Alan Vogel led Fort Recovery’s group of four boys runners. He finished in 14:00.

Caleb Heitkamp was next in 71st in 14:38, Ryan Heitkamp took 86th in 15:22 and Colton Metzger was 116th in 19:08.[[In-content Ad]]
