FR boys knock off Wildcats

FORT RECOVERY - The Fort Recovery Middle School eighth grade boys basketball team edged the Minster Wildcats Thursday for a 36-34 victory. The seventh grade squad fell, 36-28.
Elijah Kahlig scored 11 points to power the Indians, who improved to 7-2. Jacob Muhlenkamp added eight points.
Cole Wendel posted seven points for the FRHS seventh grade team (1-8), which trailed by just two at halftime. Evan Schoen followed with five points.
Miles takes third
COLUMBUS - Courtney Miles' third-place finish was the best for a group of local gymnasts who competed Jan. 10 at the Gymnastics Jam.
Miles scored a career-best 9.2 on the Level 7 floor exercise to finish in third place. She also had a 9.0 on the vault and had an all-around total of 33.775 for 11th place.
Jocelyn Huey scored a 9.35 for fifth place on the Level 4 vault, and Lizzy Schoenlein was fifth on the Level 7 balance beam with an 8.825. Schoenlein also had a 9.125 on the vault, Korinna Schindler scored an 8.9 on the floor exercise and Riley Leavell had a 7.575 on the floor.

MARIA STEIN - Fort Recovery's seventh grade girls basketball team fell to .500 Thursday with a 34-13 loss to the host Marion Local Flyers. The eighth grade team lost 31-18.
Cassidy Rammel finished with five points for the Indian seventh graders, who are now 5-5. Kara Jutte added four points.
Lexi Schmitz had eight points for the FRMS seventh grade squad (3-7). Breanna Jutte chipped in three points.[[In-content Ad]]
