ANSONIA, Ohio — After nearly a month without a victory, the Indians came through.
Fort Recovery High School’s volleyball team stopped an 11-match losing streak Monday, sweeping past the Ansonia Tigers 25-12, 25-18, 27-25.
Kylie Kahlig totaled 10 service points, eight digs and seven kills to lead the Indians, who are now 5-15. Their last victory came by a 25-14, 25-21, 25-13 score at home over Arcanum on Sept. 12.
Kayla Kahlig finished with 18 assists and nine service points in the win, Abby Backs came up with 14 digs and Ericka Lennartz notched eight kills. Kelsey Fiely also scored nine service points, and Kara Faller finished with five blocks.
Fort Recovery’s junior varsity team (11-5) got eight service points and three digs from Heather Vaughn in a 25-6, 25-11 victory.
SA volleyball falls
FORT WAYNE — South Adams got better each game, but still fell 25-15, 25-18, 26-24 Monday to the host Bishop Luers Saints.
Alyssa Bluhm paced the Starfires with seven digs, six assists, five kills and four aces. Mykala Coblentz added 10 digs.
The loss dropped SAHS to 7-19 on the year.
Hannah Taing finished with eight digs and three kills as the Starfire junior varsity team fell 25-16, 25-19. The freshman squad also lost, 25-17, 25-20.
Tribe freshmen roll
FORT RECOVERY — Coming up big in a couple of close games Monday, the Fort Recovery freshman volleyball team pulled a match closer to .500 with a 28-26, 25-23 victory over the Russia Raiders.
Caley Schoenherr powered the Indians with six service points, four kills and four digs as they improved to 7-10. Jurnee Bechtol had seven service points, four digs and two kills, and Rachel Pugh put up eight assists.
St. Joe tops EJ
The East Jay Middle School eighth grade volleyball team fell 25-17, 25-20 Monday to visiting St. Joe (Decatur). The sixth graders lost 25-22, 25-24.
Mallory Marshall finished with three service points and two kills for the eighth grade Chiefs, who slipped to 11-10. Kylie Osborne also had three service points, Ava Kunkler and Gabby Hart each added two kills and Sierra Trobridge notched two assists.
Kaylee Inman scored five service points to go along with an ace and a dig for the EJMS sixth graders. Mallary Bost and Lucy Laux each had three service points and one ace.[[In-content Ad]]
