FRHS falls to Rangers

NEW KNOXVILLE, Ohio — A game that was tied early got away from the Indians in the second quarter.
Fort Recovery High School’s girls basketball team gave up a 15-2 run to close the first half Thursday on the way to a 56-46 loss to the New Knoxville Rangers.
The Indians (13-6, 5-3 MAC) never led, but pulled even at 16-16 on a Tori Lennartz 3-pointer at the 6:35 mark of the second period. However, they managed just two points in the rest of the half as New Knoxville (18-3, 7-1 MAC) took control.
Kelsey Fiely scored 11 points to pace FRHS, which shot just 30 percent from the field. Kara Jutte finished with nine points and a game-high 10 rebounds, and Lennartz added nine points and four assists.
Haley Horstman led the Rangers to the victory with 22 points and six boards.

SA falls to Bruins
BERNE — The South Adams boys basketball team struggled on the offensive end Thursday as it dropped its 13th straight game, 39-30 to the visiting Blackford Bruins.

Derek Wanner’s seven points were a team high for the Starfires (2-13), whose last victory came Nov. 24 against Daleville. SAHS trailed by five at halftime and shot just 35 percent from the field for the game.
Dustin Dellinger and Chase Mosser followed Wanner with six points apiece. Cal Clauser grabbed four rebounds.
Andrew Mahan led Blackford (6-11) to the victory with 11 points. Trace Oswalt totaled 10 points and seven rebounds.
Fort wins opener
NEW KNOXVILLE, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s eighth grade girls basketball team opened the Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament on Thursday with a 36-27 victory over the St. Henry Redskins.
Whitney Will scored 18 points for the Indians, who evened their record at 8-8. Jocie Kaiser added 12 points.
The Tribe will continue tournament play at New Knoxville at 12:15 p.m. Saturday against Minster.[[In-content Ad]]
