FRHS falls to Tigers

CELINA, Ohio — The Indians missed the chance for a three-win week.
Fort Recovery High School’s boys golf team, which defeated Coldwater Monday and Tri-Village Tuesday, slipped to a 161-191 defeat Thursday to the Parkway Panthers at Mercer County Elks Golf Club.
Kent Retz picked up pars on the 140-yard, par-3 second hole, 335-yard, par-4 third, 349-yard, par-4 sixth and 250-yard, par-4 ninth. He led the Tribe with a 44.
Jordan Bollenbacher was the medalist as he paced Parkway with a 2-under-par 34. Brian Schatzer added a 40.
Elijah Kahlig matched Retz with four pars as he added a 46 for Fort Recovery (7-14). Chase Bruns finished with a 50, and Josh Pohl completed the team score with a 51.
Tigers top volleyball
FORT RECOVERY — Fort Recovery couldn’t slow down the Versailles Tigers Thursday in a 25-12, 25-11, 25-15 loss.
Cassidy Rammel had seven service points, three assists and two kills for the Indians, who dropped to 4-8 overall and 1-4 in the Midwest Athletic Conference. Tori Lennartz added five blocks and two kills against Versailles (10-2, 4-1 MAC), and Kelsey Fiely came up with six digs.
Kirsten Jutte had eight service points, five assists, five digs and three kills to lead the junior varsity team to a 25-23, 25-18 win. Rachel Pugh had five digs and four kills.
Seventh stays perfect
ROCKFORD, Ohio — The Fort Recovery Middle School seventh grade football team stayed perfect Thursday with a 16-12 victory over the host Parkway Panthers. The eighth graders won, 18-6.
Cade Wendel scored both touchdowns for the Tribe seventh graders (5-0) on runs of 3 and 7 yards. Will Homan ran in for a two-point conversion, and Ryan Braun passed to Evan Post for the other.
Caleb Martin tossed TD passes of 65 yards to Cole Dues and 45 yards to Travis Sutter for the eighth grade squad (3-2). Dues added a 30-yard scoring run.
MS spikers split
VERSAILLES, Ohio — The Indians’ seventh grade volleyball team improved to 7-4 Thursday with a 25-13, 20-25, 25-15 win over the Versailles Tigers.
The eighth graders lost 25-16, 25-19.
Kelsey Jutte had eight service points and five assists for the seventh grade team (4-1 Midwest Athletic Conference), and Carley Stone notched four kills, two blocks and a dig. Kiah Wendel scored 11 service points.
Devin Post had eight kills and two blocks for the eighth grade Indians (2-9, 0-5 MAC). Emily Hart added four service points and two digs.[[In-content Ad]]
