FORT RECOVERY — The Indians stayed within striking distance most of the way. But they couldn’t keep up in the fourth quarter.
Fort Recovery High School’s freshman girls basketball team gave up 18 points in the final period Monday, dropping its season opener 38-26 to the Coldwater Cavaliers.
Kendra Siefring was the lone player in double figures for the Tribe, which trailed 14-12 at the half. She finished with 10 points.
Caitlyn Huelskamp and Tori Vaughn each added five points, and Kelsey Evers finished with four.

Eagles trample Wes-Del
GASTON — West Jay Middle School
’s eighth grade girls basketball team improved to 2-1 Monday with a 22-8 victory over the host Wes-Del Warriors. The seventh grade team rolled to a 32-11 win.
Samantha Back and Kyndal Miller led a balanced scoring effort for the Eagle eighth graders with six points apiece. Courtney Cox, Hannah Chapman, Lilly Rogers, Kylie Ring and Cassie Reno each added two points.
Kimber Harris caught fire to score all of her 15 points, including three 3-pointers, for the WJMS seventh grade team in the third quarter. Kady Finnerty added 10 points, all in the first half.

EJ stomps Wilson
MUNCIE — The East Jay girls basketball teams each led 12-0 over host Wilson after the opening quarter Monday on the way to a pair of wins. The eighth graders picked up a 35-15 victory and the seventh grade team won by a 33-12 final.
Britlyn Dues tallied nine points to lead the EJMS eighth graders, who were up 19-5 at the half. Taylor Homan added five points.
Betsy Muhlenkamp was the lone Chief in double figures on the night as she scored 14 points for the seventh graders. Katie Beougher followed with nine points.[[In-content Ad]]
