FRHS girls finish 7th at Coldwater

COLDWATER, Ohio — Fort Recovery High School’s girls cross country team had two runners in the top 25 Thursday as it finished seventh in the 21-team Coldwater Lion’s Club Invitational.
Division III No. 1 Minster won with 51 points, just ahead of the Division II No. 7 host Cavaliers (53). Division III No. 3 Versailles was third with 91, and the Indians scored 184 points.
The boys team was 15th out of 22 teams with 372 points. Minster won with 79 points.
Abby May led the Indians with a time of 20 minutes, 18 seconds for a 15th-place finish. Elle Sutter followed in 22nd at 20:32.
Jessica Vogel was 52nd in 21:24 ahead of Samantha Tobe (61st - 21:52) and Nicole Heitkamp (67th - 22:01).
Ryan Heitkamp turned in the best time for the boys team in 32nd at 17:42. Caleb Heitkamp was 71st in 18:33 followed by Derek Sutter (80th - 18:43), Nathan Fullenkamp (103rd - 19:07) and Calvin Kaiser (104th - 19:08).
In the middle school competition the FRHS girls were 10th out of 14 teams while the boys finished 17th out of 18.
Caitlyn Heulskamp led the Tribe girls in 37th at 13:44 trailed by Janel Heitkamp (50th - 14:06), Katie Braun (54th - 14:09), Monica Fullenkamp (56th - 14:10) and Paige McCain (84th - 14:40). A.J. Jutte was 46th in the boys race in 12:46 ahead of Gabe Muhlenkamp (69th - 13:18), Isaac Siegrist (108th - 14:01), Eli Koester (140th - 14:50) and Mitch Kaiser (148th - 15:11).

Volleyball loses
NEW KNOXVILLE, Ohio — The Indians couldn’t build off of Tuesday’s momentum as they fell 25-19, 25-14, 25-22 to the New Knoxville Rangers.
Fort Recovery, which halted a nine-match losing streak with a victory Tuesday over Jay County, got nine kills, eight digs and eight blocks from Olivia Thien as it fell to 5-14 overall and 1-6 in the Midwest Athletic Conference
. Holly Brunswick added nine digs and seven kills, and Shelby Brunswick totaled 10 assists and five points.
The win improved New Knoxville to 8-10 overall and 2-5 in the MAC.
Kelsey Fiely totaled five points, four kills and three digs in the junior varsity team’s 25-12, 25-19 victory over the Rangers. Rashell Muhlenkamp had five kills and five digs, and Emily Link put up eight assists.

Anna tops gridders
FORT RECOVERY — Fort Recovery dropped a couple of middle school football teams Thursday to the visiting Anna Rockets with the eighth graders losing 28-12 and the seventh grade team falling 28-0.
Cole Hull gave the Tribe eighth grade team a 6-0 lead with a 41-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. However, Anna pulled even in the second quarter, took the lead in the third and scored 16 points in the fourth to pull away.
Ryan Muhlenkamp had the other TD for the Indians on a 5-yard run in the final period.

MS spikers fall
MARIA STEIN, Ohio — The Fort Recovery Middle School volleyball teams dropped a pair of matches to the Marion Local Flyers with the eighth graders falling 25-13, 25-21 and the seventh grade team suffering a 25-21, 25-5 defeat.
Morgan Lennartz finished with five points and a block for the seventh graders. Trisha Thien added four points and a block.
In the eighth grade match Rachel Pugh had five points and four assists for the Tribe. Cassidy Rammel scored seven points, and Haley Knapke totaled six kills.[[In-content Ad]]
