SIDNEY, Ohio — Shelby Brunswick and Olivia Schwieterman each drew more walks than the host Fairlawn Jets had runs Friday as the Fort Recovery High School softball team cruised to a 21-3, five-inning victory.
The Indians racked up 21 walks, led by Brunswick’s five and Schwieterman’s four, and 12 hits as they evened their record at 5-5. Brunswick also had a single as she scored three times and drove in three runs, and Schwieterman totaled three runs and two RBIs.
Janelle Schwieterman went 3-for-3 and smacked a home run as she also scored three times and drive in a pair of runs. Kendra Brunswick had two hits, including a double, three RBIs and two runs, and Olivia Thien finished with a triple, three RBIs and two runs.
Andi Sutter earned the win, limiting Fairlawn to one run on six hits and two walks in three innings.

SA’s Myers honored
BERNE — South Adams wrestling coach Eric Myers was named this week as the Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association Regional Coach of the Year.

Myers’ Starfire squad turned in a perfect 27-0 regular season and won the Allen County Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament titles. They were also champions at the Homestead Super Duals, Spencer Haworth Invitational, New Castle Super Duals, Tri Invitational and East Central Indiana Classic.He will be honored on Friday during the coaches’ association’s spring clinic at Wabash College in Crawfordsville.

Waters Ks nine
ANZIO, Italy — In his second outing of the season, Mitch Waters struck out nine batters but had to settle for a no decision.
Thanks in part to three unearned runs in the third inning, Waters, a 2002 Jay County High School graduate, left the game after eight innings with his Sala Baganza Baseball Club tied with the host Anzio Baseball Club 5-5. Sala Baganza went on to fall 6-5 in 10 innings.
Waters struck out nine batters in his eight innings of work, and allowed just five hits and two walks. Through two starts this season he has a 1.80 ERA with 16 strikeouts in 15 innings.[[In-content Ad]]
