Givens leads SA (05/06/05)

SAHS roundup

LEO — Austin Givens’ two-run home run sparked a four-run fourth inning as the South Adams baseball team defeated the Leo Lions 5-1 Thursday.

South Adams led 1-0 before the third, but broke the game open thanks in part to the Givens homer.

Givens finished 1-for-2 with the home run, two RBIs and a run.

Craig Neuenschwander had the only other extra-base hit for Starfires, a two-run double in the fourth. He also scored a run.

Kyle Alberson had two runs and two stolen bases, and Justin Caffee and Jordan Sharp each added two hits.

Mike Farris picked up the win, allowing one run on three hits in seven innings. He struck out three batters and walked four.

Softball goes hitless

LEO — South Adams’ softball team was not so successful against the Leo Lions Thursday as it fell victim to a no-hitter in a 2-0 loss.

Amber Melick took the defeat as she gave up two runs — one earned — on nine hits in six innings. She struck out two batters and did not allow a walk.

The Starfires dropped to 7-6 with the loss and 4-4 in the Allen County Athletic Conference.

Kayla Coblentz had the lone offensive statistic for South Adams with a stolen base.[[In-content Ad]]
