Golden Eagles swim past JCHS (12/06/06)
JCHS swimming
CONVERSE - The Patriots dominated diving Tuesday, but other victories were few and far between.
Jay County's swim teams each took their second loss of the season, the girls falling to 4-2 with a 121-64 loss to the host Oak Hill Golden Eagles and the boys to 1-2 with a 136.5-47.5 defeat.
A pair of sophomore divers swept the wins in that event for the Patriots, both by less than 10 points. Steven Kelly was first on the boys side by just 4.7 points with a total of 167.75, and April Acker took the girls competition by 5.55 points with a score of 149.9.
Cori Vormohr earned two of the other three wins for Jay County on the evening.
She dominated the 200-yard individual medley, winning by more than 10 seconds in 2-minutes, 23.28 seconds. She also took the 100 breaststroke by nearly four seconds at 1:12.74.
Tom McCord picked up the only other victory for the JCHS boys. He held off Tyler Andrews of Oak Hill by just 17 hundredths of a second in 2:02.40.
There were two second-place finishes for the Patriots, with Briann Saxman finishing as the runner-up in the girls 100 butterfly and Aaron Hudson in the No. 2 spot in the boys 200 individual medley.[[In-content Ad]]
