FORT WAYNE - South Adams High School's boys swim team picked up two more wins Thursday, defeated the Marion Giants and host Fort Wayne South Side Archers.
In their final meet of the regular season, the Starfires won nine of 12 events and scored 153 points. Marion was second with 107, and South Side scored 61 points.
Alex Habegger and Caleb Wurster powered South Adams to victory with two wins apiece.
Habegger took the top spot in the 200 individual medley in 2 minutes, 15.9 seconds and won the 100 breaststroke at 1:07.58.Wurster handled the long distance events with winning times of 2:00.67 in the 200 freestyle and 5:32.98 in the 500 freestyle.
Joel Schmidt finished the 100 backstroke in 1:09.62 for first place, and Cole Farlow picked up the victory in the 50 freestyle in 24.83. Lance Hummer was first in diving with 169.45 points.
Scholarship created
The memory of Amy Meyer will be honored at South Adams High School with a scholarship in her name.
The inaugural scholarship will be presented this spring to a senior female athlete at SAHS. Meyer, who was an assistant cross country coach for the Starfires, was killed in a shooting in Wells County in October.
Meyer had a stand-out basketball career at South Adams, and went on to play basketball for the University of St. Francis. She also ran cross country for the Cougars.
The Adams County Community Foundation will administer the scholarship.[[In-content Ad]]
