High Rollers 3rd, headed to regional (03/02/04)
The Jay County High Rollers bowling team finished third in the sectional tournament this weekend, earning a trip to the regional round.
Jay County had a final score of 3,734. Hoosier Conference champion Huntington North was first with 3,959, and Bluffton just edged Jay with 3,746.
Leading the way for the High Rollers and earning trips to the regional round as individuals were Preston Shoopman and Cody Wright. Shoopman was seventh overall with a 607 series, and Wright was 11th with a 586.
They were followed by Jesse Shawver (565), Chris Elmore (540), Cory Mock (532), Derek Powell (528) and Brent Kirby (500).
Summer Roush tied for the 14th regional-qualifying spot with Marion’s Sabrina Hughes, but lost a one-ball roll off. She will be the first alternate.
