High Rollers dominate season opener (12/03/03)

The Jay County Blue Jay High Rollers bowling team got off to an excellent start to their season Tuesday with a 20-0 victory over Southern Wells.
Cory Mock had the high game and the high series for the Patriots with scores of 256 and 457 respectively. Derek Powell rolled a 224 high game and a 437 series.
Joining Mock and Powell in varsity action were Jesse Shawver, Cody Wright, Brent Kirby, Chris Elmore and Preston Shoopman.
The Jay County junior varsity squad suffered an 18-2 loss to Huntington North to open its season.
Ryan Brotherton scored the lone points for the High Rollers with a high game of 169 and a 329 series.
Jay County will return to action at the Brown Bowl Saturday against Norwell.
Eagles split with SA
The West Jay and South Adams middle school boys basketball teams got together for a couple of close games Tuesday, each coming away with one victory.
The Eagles held on for a win in the seventh grade contest, 33-29. The Starfires’ eighth grade team defeated West Jay 42-40.
Blake Price scored 10 points for the West Jay seventh graders, who now stand at 3-2. Ty Fullenkamp and Brady Mills each had six points.
Brandon Buckland paced the eighth grade Eagles with 17 points, and Kyle Cook had 11. Luke Goetz finished with four points.[[In-content Ad]]
