Highland scores 2nd win over Pats (05/08/04)

Local Roundup

Jay County’s softball team lost its fourth straight game Thursday. But, it wasn’t from a lack of effort.

Despite finishing without a hit the Patriots stayed close with great defense in a 2-0 loss to the Anderson Highland Scots. Highland had topped Jay County 17-1 in the previous meeting between the two teams this season.

Brittany Logue took the loss, but pitched perhaps her best game of the season in front of an outstanding defense. She allowed two runs on six hits, and walked three batters.

Jay County (6-12) couldn’t muster any offense to go with its defense. It had just one base runner when Saffron Redwine reached on a error in the first inning.

The Patriots will try to end their slide when they visit Blackford Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Jobe took the victory, recording 13 of his 15 outs on strikeouts. He allowed one run on one hit in five innings.
