Horn selected to play in showcase
Local roundup
Brad Horn has by far the best numbers of any player in Jay County High School boys soccer history. And now he'll get one more game to show his skills.
The Patriot senior earned an honor from the Indiana High School Soccer Coaches Association and was to play in the Indiana Youth Soccer Junior/Senior College Showcase.
Horn will play in the showcase, which will be held Nov. 21 and 22 at North Central High School in Indianapolis. He is just the third JCHS player to be selected for the boys game, followed Joe Sheward and Trent Bailey.
The ISCA alaso selected Horn for the All District 2 second team.
Horn was the leading scorer in the state this season as he shattered his own school record (27) with 44 goals. He also broke his single-season school record for points (58) with 97.
He also set JCHS career records for goals (80) and points (179). Scott Bruggeman held the previous marks with 36 goals and 82 points.
East Jay drops finale
The East Jay Middle School eighth grade football team dropped its final game of the season Tuesday 19-6 to visiting Delta.
Preston Keen scored the Chiefs' only touchdown on a 59-yard run. EJMS finished with an 8-2 record.
West aces No. 13
Scott West recorded his first career hole-in-one recently at Portland Golf Club.
West used a 9-wood to ace the 170-yard, par3 13th hole at PGC. Kevin McClung, Bruce Hedges, Doug Retz and Paul Rieffet witnessed the shot.[[In-content Ad]]
