GENEVA - Everyone was hot Wednesday.
But no one was hotter than the Portland Rockets as they came from behind to defeat the Geneva Cardinals 5-2 and boost their season record to a white-hot 24-6.
The Rockets trailed 1-0 going into the fifth inning, but a four-run rally turned the situation around. Rocket batters out-hit the Cardinals 11-4.
Mitch Waters, Steve Wiegle, and Jake Carr each had two hits.
Corey Murray of Richmond gave up one run and one hit in a five-inning pitching effort. Murray struck out seven, but walked five batters. Calvin Gunter of Noblesville, Corey Waldrath of Modoc, and Waters pitched in relief.
The Rockets are now 10-1 in league play and next face the Northwest Patriots at Portland's Runkle-Miller Field at 1 p.m. Sunday for a double-header.
Sunday will be golf cart day at Runkle-Miller Field, with fans invited to drive their golf carts to the game.
