Houck aces No. 15
Jay County roundup
The Patriots posted a double victory and Justen Keller turned in a career-best score. But Drew Houck stole the evening.
The senior hit a hole-in-one Thursday as the Jay County High School boys golf team defeated visiting Bellmont (173) and Bluffton (195) with a score of 170 at Portland Golf Club.
Houck bounced back from his worst hole of the season — he hit two balls out of bounds on the par-5 14th hole and finished with an 11 — to turn in the shot of his career. He aced the par-3 15th hole at PGC from 170 yards.
His competitors — Zach Wetzel (41) of Bellmont and Tyler Mohler (45) of Bluffton — witnessed the shot along with Houck’s parents, Jack and Dora, and JCHS coach Butch Gray.
To go along with Houck’s career shot, Keller had a career day with a 3-over-par-38. He strung together six straight pars on the 12th through 17th holes and bogeyed the other three.
Evan Mathias had four pars in the first six holes to post a 41, and Houck finished with a 44. Jacob Heitkamp rounded out the team score with a 47.
