Hummel, Pats blank the Rebels (05/29/03)

The Jay County baseball team improved to 21-4 Wednesday with a five-inning, 15-0 trouncing of the Randolph Southern Rebels.
The Patriots were led by Cameron Hummel, who tossed a complete-game shutout. He struck out seven batters.
Mike Smith also had a home run in the contest.
Jay County plays its final regular season game today at Bellmont at 4:30 p.m.
Junior League
Portland Moose scored twice in the sixth inning Wednesday to pull off an 8-7 comeback win over Kiwanis in Portland Junior League Pee Wee Reese League action. First National Bank topped Portland Lions 5-3 in the other Pee Wee Reese game.
In Willie Mays League games Cook’s Nursery defeated Barnett’s Auto Parts, and Patriot Paints defeated Doane Pet Care 22-11.
Moose 8, Kiwanis 7
Nate Wood had three hits, including an RBI double for Moose.
Phillip Powell had two hits, including a two-run home run, and scored twice for Kiwanis.
First National 5, Lions 3
Colton Lombardo had three hits, three runs and two RBIs in the victory. Billy Wellman tripled and scored twice for Lions.
Paints 22, Doane 11
Mason Mumby, Darin Bogenschutz and Kaliab Allen each had three hits for Paints, including one home run apiece.
