Hunt leads Jay trio in tour event (06/10/04)

Three Jay County golfers took part in the Mountain Dew Junior Tour event at New Castle’s Westwood Country Club Tuesday, with Alex Hunt posting the top finish.
Hunt was second to Greg Wuertemberger of Richmond in the 17-19-year-old event with a 77. He shot 40 on the front nine and rallied with a 37 on the back.
Tyler Johnston shot a 43-42 for his 14th-place 85, and Adam Foster had a 42 on the front nine and a 45 on the back to place 17th with an 87.
Fort gun club
The Fort Recovery Gun Club spring trap league finished competition with Ken Schlater earning the high total as he broke 279 out of 300 targets. Gary Reinhart, Dave Knapke, Ted Stammen, Tom Bailey and Joe Schwieterman topped the 20-team field.
The high scoring individuals on each team were Knapke, Craig Buschur, Joe Harlamert, Ken Hill, John Backs, Jon Smith, Ted Franks, Tod Kunk, Brian Evers, Curt Long, Mike Rockwood, Matt Wenning, Bob Green, John Fisher, Mike Hart, Dale Siegrist, Dave Wenning, Steve Shauver and Tom Sudhoff.
Grand Prix
The Red Cross Go-Kart Grand Prix will have races this year during the Fort Recovery Jubilee, the Vintage Bike Show and the Jay County Fair.
The entry fee for first-time teams, which includes a go-kart to keep, is $1,475. Teams which have participated before will pay an entry fee of $500.
The deadline to register is June 14.
