Hunt takes step to becoming pro (07/28/05)

Alex Hunt is on his way to becoming a PGA pro.
The 2005 Jay County High School graduate passed the Playing Ability Test, which is the first step to becoming a professional in the Professional Golfer’s Association.
Hunt, who plans to play at Methodist College (Fayetteville, North Carolina) this year, passed the test by shooting a 148 for 36 holes at Fox Prairie Golf Course in Noblesville. He shot rounds of 73 and 75 July 18, coming in nine strokes better than the required 157.
He was a member of the top golf team in JCHS history, helping the squad to a 26-1 mark over the last two season and a school-record, nine-hole total of 148 in 2004. The squad finished second in the Huntington sectional to reach the regional round in 2003.
Hunt was a regional qualifier as an individual in 2004, and finished fourth in the Olympic Athletic Conference during his senior season.
