Indian eighth graders top SH, stay perfect (01/12/04)

FORT RECOVERY — The Tribe trailed 7-0, but that wasn’t nearly a big enough deficit to keep it from improving to 8-0.

Fort Recovery’s eighth grade girls basketball team was back on top by the end of the first quarter and rolled to a 36-17 victory over the St. Henry Redskins Tuesday. The Indian seventh graders also picked up a victory, 38-11.

The Tribe eighth graders (8-0) rallied to lead 11-9 by the end of the first period. It outscored St. Henry 9-2 in the second quarter and dominated the rest of the contest.

Joanna Snyder paced the team with 10 points, and Kinsey Wenning added six. Rachel Tobe and Lauren Day each had four points.

The seventh grade Indians (7-1) never had much trouble as they led by 10 points after the first quarter. They dominated the second 10-0 and never allowed the Redskins more than five points in a period.

Emily May set the pace with nine points, and Josie Guggenbiller added eight.

Kelsey Brockman scored four points, and Chelsey Leuthold scored five.

SA needs coach

South Adams High School is in need of a junior varsity softball coach for the 2005 season.

Schedule note

Because of other changes to the JCHS athletics schedule this week, the Jay County Winter Swim Team’s practice Thursday has also been moved. The team will practice from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. at the JCHS pool.

Fort tickets

Tickets to Fort Recovery’s boys basketball games Friday at St. Henry and Saturday at Houston will be on sale Thursday.

They will be sold Thursday in the middle school office from 7:45 to 11:15 a.m. and in the high school office from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Tickets will not be available on Friday.

Advance tickets are $4 for students and $5 for adults. All tickets at the door will be $5.[[In-content Ad]]
