MINSTER, Ohio - The showdown is set.

Fort Recovery's seventh and eighth grade girls basketball teams each won Thursday night, setting up a double-play of undefeated battles when they host East Jay Monday night. The Indian eighth grades eked out a 33-32 win over the Minster Wildcats, and the eighth grade squad rolled 32-19.

Both Fort Recovery teams are now 9-0, and both East Jay teams stand at 6-0.

The Tribe eighth graders trailed by four after the opening period, but held one point leads at halftime, after the third quarter and at the final buzzer. Karissa Will powered FRMS with 12 points, and Olivia Schwieterman and Kelly Nietfeld each added six.

Amy Link scored nine points to lead the seventh grade team, which took control with a 10-3 second period. Rachel Rammel added seven points, and Janelle Schwieterman had six points and five rebounds.

'Skins top JH boys

FORT RECOVERY - The third win of the season escaped the Fort Recovery seventh grade boys basketball team as it lost 37-34 to the St. Henry Redskins. The eighth graders stumbled in the second quarter of a 51-27 defeat.

The Indian seventh grade squad (2-7) trailed by seven at the half, and could not overcome the deficit. Keith Fortkamp scored 10 points, and Chad Schroer and Jacob Schoen each added seven.

Fort Recovery's eighth grade team matched St. Henry with eight first-quarter points, but got shut out in the second period as it slipped to 1-8. Jared Kahlig finished with 10 points, and Jacob Whitacre scored five.[[In-content Ad]]
