Indian girls remain perfect (12/07/07)

Local roundup

ST. MARYS, Ohio - The Indians are perfect.

A pair of Fort Recovery girls basketball teams ran their records to 4-0 Thursday. The seventh grade team clobbered St. Marys 25-5, and the eighth graders won 30-20.

The Tribe seventh graders held St. Marys to one point in the second and fourth quarters and none in the third. Chelsea Pottkotter paced the Indians with eight points and nine rebounds, and Amy Link added six points.

Kylie Kahlig powered the eighth grade team with nine points.

Karissa Will and Kelly Nietfeld each added six.

EJ 7th wins again

BLUFFTON - The Chiefs didn't score in the fourth quarter. And, it didn't matter.

East Jay's seventh grade boys basketball team still took a dominating 32-14 victory over the Bluffton Tigers to run its record to 5-0. The eighth graders improved to 4-1 with a 41-35 triumph.

The Chiefs failure to score in the final period had no effect on the outcome as they had held Bluffton to just five points, including none in the third quarter, over the first three periods. Brock McFarland powered the effort with 12 points, and Cade Price added nine.

East Jay's eighth grade team trailed by two at the half, but outscored the Tigers 12-3 in the third period to take control. Andy Haffner and Jordan McBride reached double figures with 14 and 10 points respectively, and Matt Landfair scored seven.

Cavs defeat Fort

COLDWATER, Ohio - Fort Recovery's middle school boys basketball teams had no answer for the Coldwater Cavaliers Thursday as the seventh graders lost 51-24 and the eighth grade team fell 47-30.

Both Tribe teams managed just four first-quarter points with the seventh grade team falling behind 30-11 at the half. The eighth graders trailed by just three at the intermission, but got outscored 17-7 in the third period as Coldwater pulled away.

Jason Pottkotter was the only Indian in double figures, leading the eighth grade team with 10 points. Jared Kahlig added eight points.

Jacob Schoen's nine points topped the seventh graders. Trent Kaiser and Mason Evers each scored four.[[In-content Ad]]
