Indians cruise past New Knoxville

FORT RECOVERY - The Fort Recovery High School girls basketball team scored the first seven points Thursday and never trailed in a 53-39 slaughter of the New Knoxville Rangers.

Kendra Brunswick put in the first hoop of the game and went on to shoot 7-of-10 from the field with three 3-pointers for a game-high 17 points. Chelsea Leuthold scored the next five for the Tribe (11-3, 5-1 Midwest Athletic Conference) and finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds and five steals.

Holly Brunswick added 10 points, and Nicole Pottkotter had nine points, six rebounds and four assists.

Olivia Meyer had 13 points to lead New Knoxville (3-10, 1-6 MAC).

In the junior varsity game, Ericka Lennartz, Kylie Kahlig and Janelle Schwieterman all had 10 points in the Tribe's 58-23 win.

Eighth grade boys win

NEW KNOXVILLE, Ohio - Three players scored in double figures Thursday as the eighth grade boys basketball team defeated the New Knoxville Rangers 51-30. The seventh grade team lost, 71-19.

Kent Retz totaled 15 points and seven rebounds as the eighth grade Indians improved to 9-2. Elijah Kahlig added 13 points, and Ben Dilworth scored 11.

Derek Backs and Nathan Lochtefeld each had four points for the seventh grade squad, which fell to 2-9.

MS girls split pair

UNION CITY - Tori Lennartz scored more than half of the seventh grade team's points in a 31-14 win over Union City. The eighth grade team lost, 25-21.

Lennartz poured in 19 points to pace the Fort Recovery seventh graders as they improved to 6-6. Caley Schoenherr added four points.

Kelsee Ontrop and Lexi Schmitz each had six points for the eighth grade Indians (3-9).[[In-content Ad]]
