Indians move up in AP poll

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Another conference victory helped the Indians move up one place in the state poll.
Fort Recovery was voted the No. 8 team in Division IV in the Ohio high school boys basketball poll released Monday by The Associated Press.
The Indians (15-2) earned 74 poll points, which was six more than ninth-ranked Newark Catholic (14-3). Richmond Heights (12-2) is ranked seventh with 88 points.
FRHS has racked up seven straight wins since falling Jan. 4 to New Bremen, which finished 11th in this week’s Division IV voting. It will host a pair of games this week — Friday against New Knoxville and Saturday against Northmont.
Other Midwest Athletic Conference teams ranked in the state’s top 10 are St. Henry at No. 6 in Division IV and Versailles at No. 10 in Division III.

Freshmen split
The freshman boys basketball team rolled to its seventh win of the season 55-30 at home Monday over the Mississinawa Valley Blackhawks. The girls team lost on the road 43-17 to the Fort Loramie Redskins.
Jackson Hobbs scored 14 points to lead a group of three players in double figures for the Tribe boys (7-2), who outscored Mississinawa Valley 34-11 in the second and third quarters. J.J. Overton added 12 points, and Chase Bruns scored 10.

8th grade boys win
FORT RECOVERY — With Micaiah Cox leading the way, the eighth grade boys basketball team rolled past the New Knoxville Rangers 49-33 Monday. The seventh grade team lost, 38-27.
Cox racked up 22 points to lead the Fort Recovery eighth graders, who improved to 11-4. Jason Roessner finished with eight points.
Evan Post scored 12 points for the Tribe seventh grade team, which slipped to 9-6. Cade Wendel added 11 points.[[In-content Ad]]
