Indians put end to four-game skid

NEW KNOXVILLE, Ohio — The Indians are back on track.
Fort Recovery High School’s baseball team got off to a fast start Tuesday and held off the New Knoxville Rangers to halt a four-game losing streak with a 6-5 victory.
Gabe Riegle went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run to lead the offense of the Tribe (11-7, 1-4 Midwest Athletic Conference), which had lost consecutive games to Versailles, New Knoxville, Coldwater and Minster. The earlier loss to the Rangers came by an 8-5 score in a non-conference game.
Cole Wendel added two hits, a run and an RBI for FRHS, and Jacob Muhlenkamp was 2-for-2 with a run.
Chad Schroer earned the win as he went four innings, allowing four runs — one earned — on five hits. Jackson Hobbs tossed 1 2/3 innings of relief for the save.

Track last at quad
ANNA, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s girls team scored 30 points to finish last in a four-team field at Anna. Fort Loramie won the girls competition with 114.5 points in the meet that also included New Knoxville and the host Rockets.
Anna won the boys competition with 123 points while Fort Recovery was held scoreless.
Sierra Pugh placed second for the Tribe girls in the 100-meter dash in 13.99 seconds. Hannah Kaup was the runner-up in the long jump with a leap of 14 feet, 7¾ inches.
Elle Sutter added a pair of third-place efforts with times of 5 minutes, 55.3 seconds, in the 1,600 run and 13:22 in the 3,200 run.
Derek Sutter was seventh for the FRHS boys in the 1,600 run in 5:19.7, and David Trobridge placed seventh in the 100 dash in 12.24.

JV baseball loses
FORT RECOVERY — The FRHS junior varsity baseball team matched the Fort Loramie Redskins in hits Tuesday, but still fell 5-2.
Nick Litmer took the loss, giving up two runs on five hits and a walk in four innings. Fort Loramie scored twice against him in the second inning and never trailed.
Ben Will and Kyle Schroer each had two hits and an RBI to lead the Tribe offense. Mitch Stammen and Evan Schoen each scored a run, and Ray Siefring and Brandon Schoen had one hit apiece.
The loss dropped Fort Recovery to 3-6.

Heitkamp dominates
ROCKFORD, Ohio — Angela Heitkamp racked up three wins Tuesday to lead the Fort Recovery Middle School girls track team to victory in a four-team meet at Parkway.
The Indians scored 109 points to defeat Spencerville (52), Parkway (37) and Bradford (24).
The Tribe boys finished in third place.
Heitkamp picked up her first victory by eight seconds over teammate Grace Gehle in the 1,600 run with a time of 6 minutes, 14.8 seconds, and never slowed down. She posted a winning time of 1:11.14 in the 400 dash and also won the 800 run.
Lauren Gehle had the only other win for the Indian girls, taking the 100 dash in 15.2.
The FRMS team of Kolin Sanders, Andrew Stocker, Davis Will and Jason Roessner won the boys 4x200 relay in 2:02.61.[[In-content Ad]]
