West Jay’s seventh grade boys basketball team won for the first time this season, giving Jay County’s middle school teams three victories Tuesday.
The Eagle seventh grade team came up big in the fourth quarter to win 31-16 over the host Wes-Del Warriors. West Jay’s eighth grade squad rolled to a 48-21 win.
The East Jay eighth graders improved to 3-1 with a 30-21 win at home against Union City while the Chief seventh grade team fell 41-38.
West Jay led most of the seventh grade game, but was up by just four heading into the final period. The Eagles (1-4) outscored Wes-Del 16-5 in the fourth quarter for the big victory.
Ryan Miskinis and Patrick Chambers each scored six points to pace the team’s first win. Zach Cash and Dusty Rodgers added five points apiece.
The West Jay eighth grade squad (4-1) was in control throughout, getting nine points each from Josh Beaty and John Pettus. C.J. Landers scored seven points, and Taylor Farmer added six.
Eric Homan powered East Jay’s eighth graders with 12 points. Austin Emerick added six points, and Tyler Freyburgher had four.
Garrett Krieg and Drew Houck each reached double figures, finishing with 15 and 13 points respectively for the East Jay seventh grade team. Aaron Emerick scored eight points.[[In-content Ad]]
