HARTFORD CITY — The Jay County junior varsity and freshman football teams split the field Monday night to earn a 27-8 victory over the Blackford Bruins.
The Patriots led 12-8 at halftime, and pulled away in the second half with the freshman offense and JV defense in action. Kyle Cook posted the first touchdown for the freshman offense, and Michael Jobe added the second.
The JV defense shut down the Bruins for the victory.
FR freshmen win
Fort Recovery’s volleyball team disposed of the Botkins Trojans in its first match of the season Monday, 25-20, 25-19.
Ashley Grube paced Fort Recovery with four kills. She also had a team-high six digs to go along with five points.
LeAnne Tobin scored 12 points, and Amy Schoenlein had five. Angie Wenning dished out six assists, and Sarah Braun and Jill Pottkotter each had three kills.
Parkway edges Tribe
The Fort Recovery freshman football team lost its opening game of the season Monday, dropping a 21-20 decision to the Parkway Panthers.

Tickets for Fort Recovery’s football game at home Friday against Parkway will go on sale Thursday.
They will be available in the high school office Thursday from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. They will also be sold in the middle school office Friday from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Advance tickets are $4 for students and $5 for adults. All tickets at the gate will be $5.[[In-content Ad]]
