FORT WAYNE — They’re back in the win column.
The Jay County volleyball team put an end to a four-match losing streak Tuesday, knocking out the Fort Wayne South Side Archers 25-11, 25-16, 28-26. It was the Patriots’ first victory since the Jay County Invitational Aug. 20, improving their record to 3-7.
Junior setter Erica Clark led the charge as she contributed to 15 of Jay County’s 16 kills. She paced the squad with 11 assists and also shared the team high with four kills.
Clark added four aces, three blocks and a dig.
Theresa Reinhart and Markie Runyon had five aces apiece, and Jessica Muhlenkamp notched four as the Patriots totaled 21 in the match.
Reinhart and Shelby Rines matched Clark with four kills apiece, and Sarah Mescher had five blocks and a pair of kills.
Jay County’s junior varsity team pulled within one of .500 with a 25-18, 25-14 victory over South Side.
Sarah Westgerdes racked up six aces as the JV Patriots improved to 3-4. She also had three kills.
Julie Alig posted a team high five kills, and Shanda Morningstar added four.
Sharon Dirksen had seven assists, and Stephanie Wellman notched four assists and a pair of digs.
Jay County also took the freshman match over South Side in two games, but scores and statistics were not available at press time.[[In-content Ad]]
