JCHS volleyball
MUNCIEâ- Jay County High School's volleyball team finished 1-2 and in third place at Saturday's OlympicâAthletic Conference tournament hosted by Muncie Southside.
The Patriots (12-14) picked up their lone win over the host Rebels by a 25-15, 25-18 final. They lost 25-17, 21-25, 25-17 to Connersville and 25-22, 25-22 against Anderson Highland.
Kelsey Wood led the Patriots to their only victory, recording team highs of 11 digs and seven points. Sharon Dirksen put up 16 assists against Southside, and Sarah Mescher scored eight points.
Ashley Langenkamp had 12 digs and 10 points, both team highs, in the three-game loss to Connersville. Shelby Rines powered Jay County against Highland as she turned in team bests of nine digs and eight points.
Mescher's 21 points were tops on the team for the three-match set, and she also had 13 kills and four blocks. Rines finished with 20 digs and 19 kills, and Wood had 20 digs and 15 kills.
Dirksen racked up 53 assists to go along with 19 digs, Chelsea Grady turned in a team-best 21 digs, and Sarah Westgerdes finished with 14 kills. Kristi Morningstar was second behind Mescher with 14 points, and Ashley Langenkamp had 11 points. Morningstar and Langenkamp each recorded four aces.[[In-content Ad]]
