INDIANAPOLIS - An undefeated regular season gave the Patriots the No. 6 ranking in the state.

Jay County High School's girls basketball team finished with 64 points in the final Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association Class 4A poll of the season, which ranked them sixth.

The Patriots (18-0) are one of just three unbeaten teams in the state. The others, Ben Davis (23-0) and South Bend Washington (21-0) are rated No. 1 and 2 respectively in Class 4A.

The No. 3 and 5 teams in Class 4A, Terre Haute South and Plainfield, suffered their only losses of the year to Ben Davis. The No. 4 team, Hamilton Southeastern, lost its only game to Class 2A No. 1 Heritage Christian.

Jay County is ranked No. 6 in the state overall in the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association poll, and is No. 11 in the Sagarin Ratings.

Fort moves to 5-4

CELINA - The Fort Recovery High School freshman girls basketball team jumped above .500 Monday with a 45-40 victory over the Celina Bulldogs.

Erika Lennartz paced the Indians (5-4) with 14 points. Kara Faller and Christen Wendel each added 11 points.

Indians beat Marion

FORT RECOVERY - Both Fort Recovery Middle School boys basketball teams had two players score in double figures in victories Monday over the Marion Local Flyers. The Tribe eighth grade team won 40-34, and the seventh graders dominated 43-19.

Elijah Kahlig led all scorers with 14 points for the seventh grade team, which improved to 10-2. Bobby Mattraw added 12 points.

Chad Schroer and Trent Kaiser each had 12 points for the eighth graders (4-8), who opened their lead with a 14-point third quarter. Connor Rammel and Jacob Schoen each added six points.[[In-content Ad]]
