Jay County swimmers top Eels
Jay County Summer Swim Team
FORT RECOVERY — The Jay County and Fort Recovery summer swim teams entered Monday’s meet with unblemished records.
Jay County showed its perfect record was warranted, beating the host Eels 850.5-572.5.
The Jay swimmers (3-0) won 12 of the 20 relays and 44 of the 60 individual events. Fort Recovery dropped to 3-1 on the season.
Triple event winners for Jay were Sophie Saxman, Konner Sommers, Anne Vormohr, Josh Lykins and three of the Bader sisters — Eliza, Alex and Sophie.
Daniel Fennig, Mara Bader, Abilene Hough, Juan Pablo Wiggins, Ben Strausburg, Alex LeMaster and Tayler Smeltzer all won a pair of individual races.
Picking up single wins for Jay were Madelynn Snow, Elayna Paro, Damian Hicks, Bennett Weitzel, Erica Hathaway, Natalie Blakely, Ashlyn Dow, Luke Nichols and Sok Vormohr.
Ponderosa wins pair
Ponderosa picked up two wins Monday in Portland Junior League’s Rookie baseball division, beating Pak-A-Sak 13-6 and Barnett’s Auto Parts 17-6.
Against Barnett’s, Ryne Goldsworthy led the Ponderosa offense with three hits, three runs and three RBIs. Hank Imel and Jeremiah Canterbury both tallied three hits and scored three times.
AJ Myers, Tony Wood, Rhysin Blowers and Isaac Roop all had two hits each.
For Barnett’s, Daidrick Retz, Landon Garringer, Bryce Wenk, Cavan Hartzell and Keegan Hough smacked two hits apiece, and Wenk drove in three runs.
Goldsworthy, Canterbury and Roop each recorded a pair of hits and drove in two runs against Pak-A-Sak.
Isaac Dues and Caleb DeRome had three hits respectively to lead the Pak-A-Sak offense.[[In-content Ad]]
